Our Heritage
The local elected officials of Colorado's Central Plains always have agreed that the colorful history of this region is something to be exhibited with pride ... something to which local residents can point and say, "This is uniquely ours."
In the 1980s, when the East Central Council of Local Governments published a periodic newsletter called The Regional Review, a regular feature was "Our Heritage," a story intended to highlight this history, to remind the people who live here of our local heritage, while at the same time exposing others to the history of the Colorado with no mountains...the "other" Colorado.
Some of those stories were later reprinted in Our Heritage: A Collection of Tales of East Central Colorado, published in two volumes. Volume I is out of print, although photocopies can be obtained. Volume II is still on hand; contact us for more information.
More recently, ECCOG and Prairie Development Corporation have begun publishing some of the stories on the Internet. Completion of the web version of "Our Heritage" will be on-going, but if you'd like to see what's available so far, click here!
